DESCRIPTION:A July celebration of the blood compact between Datu Sikatuna a
 nd Miguel López de Legazpi in 1565. The two leaders cut their chests\, mi
 xed the blood with wine and drank it\, and that sealed the friendship betw
 een the Spaniards and the Boholanos. Juan Luna painted the scene. The fest
 ival runs for the month\, with the city's Charter Day on 1 July and Bohol'
 s day on 22 July.\n\nPeople long held that the compact took place off Bool
 \, now a barangay of Tagbilaran. In 2006 the National Historical Institute
  put a marker at Villalimpia in Hinawanan Bay\, Loay\, which gives the dat
 e as 25 March 1565 and the place as the Spanish ship San Pedro.
