Amihan
In Tagalog stories, Amihan is a bird spirit, one of the first beings, with the god Bathala and Aman Sinaya. Some tellings say she helped the first man and woman, Malakas and Maganda, out of a bamboo. Amihan is also the name of the cool northeast wind season.

The story
In the Philippines, amihan is also the name of the cool northeast wind. The season lasts from about October or November to March or April. It brings mild weather and little rain to most of Luzon and the Visayas. The warm, wet southwest wind is the habagat. The wind changes direction, often in one night, to mark the new season.
In stories, Amihan is a person. In one Tagalog creation tale, she is among the first beings, with Bathala (the sky god) and Aman Sinaya (the sea god). She flies between them as a bird and brings peace. In another version, she and Habagat are the children of Bathala. They take turns each half year, because playing together causes harm. Some tales show her as a giant who fights Habagat.
Versions differ by place and teller, since the stories passed by mouth. Some details found online, such as the war she starts, rest on weak sources. Treat these with care.
