Enchanted Kingdom
The theme park that turned Santa Rosa into a place people travel to. Before it opened, the city was known mainly for the Coca-Cola, RC Cola and Toyota plants in its industrial estates. Santa Rosa lies 40 kilometres south of Manila.
Mario and Cynthia Mamon opened the park on 25 hectares along RSBS Boulevard in October 1995. It is laid out in nine themed zones, among them a Victorian main entrance, a 1930s Coney Island boardwalk that carries most of the rides, a space zone and a village on Philippine culture. There are 32 rides and attractions, including the Space Shuttle roller coaster, the Wheel of Fate Ferris wheel at 39.62 metres with 36 gondolas, and a flight simulator called Agila. The park invents its own characters rather than licensing them, and its mascot is Eldar the Wizard.
