Holy Rosary Church
A Catholic church known in Kapampangan as Pisamban Maragul, the big church. Men built it with unpaid labour under the polo y servicio system from 1877 to 1896, the dome went up in 1891, and the work was finished in 1909. Inside is a venerated statue of the dead Christ called Apung Mamacalulu, Lord of Mercy.
The busiest days are Good Friday, when barefoot followers of Apung Mamacalulu join the procession through the city proper, and Easter Sunday, when the Salubong ends with fireworks. The National Museum of the Philippines lists it as an Important Cultural Property, and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts as a national historical site. The church is dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary and belongs to the Archdiocese of San Fernando. Pope Leo XIV raised it to minor basilica on 21 January 2026, the first in Pampanga.
