Muntinlupa Sunken Garden

no rating yet ♥ 0

A wide grassy field that lies lower than the land around it, on the south shore of Jamboree Lake inside the New Bilibid Prison reservation. The city government and the Bureau of Corrections run it together, and the city protects it as a local zone.

The park covers about 15.8 hectares, edged by large canopy trees that separate the prison from the houses of east Poblacion. On the north side near the lake is Memorial Hill, with a grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes, a Japanese cannon from the Second World War and a memorial to Eriberto Misa, who directed the prison longer than anyone else. Gazebos stand by the water at a recreation camp. People come for fitness classes, fun runs, football and fishing, and the city has shown free films by the lake every week since May 2015.
