Banana plantation
The Tagum Agricultural Development Company, known as TADECO, runs a Cavendish banana plantation in Panabo that grew into the world's largest of its kind. The operation is the reason Panabo calls itself the Banana Capital of the Philippines.
TADECO was founded on December 20, 1950, in Panabo. Its plantation employed large numbers of local workers and drew migrants from the Visayas, driving the growth that later led to the town's cityhood.
