The town church, built in 1871 for Saint James the Greater, the patron saint of Dapitan. The interior walls are about one metre thick and still original, although the altar and the interior have been renovated several times.

Inside is the spot where Jose Rizal stood at Mass every Sunday. The choir loft holds a manual pipe organ from 1827, made in Germany with European pipes and brought here by the Augustinian Recollect fathers. The feast of the patron falls on 25 July, inside the Kinabayo Festival that runs from 16 to 31 July.
