The city cathedral, built in 1894 to replace the older church, and the seat of the Diocese of Dipolog. Its full name is Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral, and it stands in Estaka. Inside are thick adobe stone walls, a wooden ceiling and a wooden bas relief of the Four Evangelists. Workers rebuilt the main reredos in carved marble in 1996, and a bell tower rises at the centre of the facade.
Jose Rizal designed the high altar. He drew it from a sketch that Father Jose Villaclara, his former professor and then the priest of Dipolog, asked him for. The church became a cathedral in 1967, when the diocese was founded, and one of the 500 Jubilee Churches for the quincentennial of Philippine Christianity in 2021.
