An old ancestral house in Bago City, Balay ni Tan Juan now operates as a museum. It stands as one of the buildings behind the city's description of itself as the Home of Historical and Natural Treasures.

Bago promotes this self-given title for its history and its landscapes, flora and fauna. The preserved house supports the historical half of that claim by keeping a piece of the city's domestic architecture on view.
