Callao Cave
A limestone show cave of seven chambers, and the best known natural attraction in Cagayan. Bones found inside belong to Homo luzonensis, or Callao Man, an extinct human species confirmed in 2019 from Late Pleistocene fossils that a team led by Armand Salvador Mijares documented in 2007.
The cave lies in Barangays Magdalo and Quibal in Peñablanca, about 24 kilometres northeast of Tuguegarao City, inside the Peñablanca Protected Landscape and Seascape. It was first excavated in 1980.
