Nagacadan Rice Terraces
A cluster of rice terraces at Kiangan, on the UNESCO World Heritage list. The fields climb in rows up a valley that a river cuts in two, which sets this cluster apart from the others in the province.
Rice is more than a crop here. Ifugao feasts, taboos and rites run through the farming year, from planting to the day of rest that closes the harvest, and an elderly woman says a prayer to Cabunian, the goddess of rice, when harvest begins.
