About Ifugao

The terraces were cut into these mountainsides about 2,000 years ago and are still planted every year with tinawon rice, which is the part visitors tend to forget. Ifugao also keeps the hudhud, the long chanted epics sung at harvest and at wakes, and carves the bulul figures that guard the granaries. Lagawe is the capital, not Banaue, which catches out plenty of people.
