Aurora Memorial National Park
A protected area in the Sierra Madre mountain range, on the boundary between Aurora and Nueva Ecija. It covers 5,676 hectares and stretches more than 50 kilometres along the Bongabon-Baler road, rising to 1,000 metres. The forest is mostly lowland dipterocarp, with small areas of montane forest.
BirdLife International lists the park as an Important Bird Area. Philippine eagles, Philippine hawk-eagles, whiskered pittas, green racket-tails and Luzon water-redstarts all hold populations here. President Manuel L. Quezon set the land aside in 1937 as Boñgabon-Baler National Park, and in 1949 it was dedicated to his wife, the former First Lady Aurora Aragon Quezon.
