Barasoain Church
The birthplace of the First Philippine Republic. The First Philippine Congress met in this church on 15 September 1898, and the republic was inaugurated here on 23 January 1899. Emilio Aguinaldo took his oath as president in the building, and Joseph Estrada did the same.
Markers in the grounds record the republic and the university that once ran in the convent, and a monument to Aguinaldo stands in the patio. The church is about 42 kilometres from Manila.
