About Gregorio del Pilar

Gregorio del Pilar takes its name from the general who died at Tirad Pass in 1899, twenty-four years old, holding off the Americans long enough for Aguinaldo to get away north. The pass itself is inside the municipality. About 4,385 people live here, which makes it one of the smallest towns in Ilocos Sur.
