About Mindanao

Mindanao is where the fruit comes from: durian, pomelo, marang, and most of the pineapple and banana the country ships abroad. It is the second largest island in the Philippines, about 27 million people across six regions, and the part of the country the rest of it knows least about. Mount Apo, the highest mountain in the Philippines, stands above Davao, and the whole Sulu Archipelago trails off the southwest corner.
