A cave system inside the city proper, at the foot of Pedro Colina Hill. It gave the city its name: kuta means fort and wato means stone, so Kutawato is the fort of stone.

Hidden passageways run underground, and one tunnel reaches Tamontaka Church, the oldest church in the city. The caves sheltered the local people when the Spaniards tried to convert them to the Castilian faith, and Filipino guerrillas used them against the Japanese army in the Second World War. They later served as an armoury and a garrison. There are four entrances: the provincial Capitol Cave, Bagua Cave, Caverna Espanol and the Kuweba ni Satur.
