Ampatuan is a municipality of about 31,600 people in Maguindanao del Sur. Maguindanaon speakers write the name Inged nu Ampatuan, Iranun speakers Inged a Ampatuan. In 2004 a piece of the town was cut away to make Datu Abdullah Sangki, which is how a good part of this province was assembled.
