The town's shrine to the first Catholic Mass in Mindanao, said here on April 8, 1521 by local account, at Poblacion beside the municipal hall. People here also believe Magellan and his men raised the cross now kept in Cebu at this spot, before they sailed north. Church ruins near the Agusan River are the evidence given for it.

The town fiesta falls on the third Saturday of October, for Nuestra Señora del Rosario. The Lisagan Festival follows on the Sunday after, with street dancing and a river procession on the Agusan and the Baug.
