About Gigaquit

The name comes from gigad, meaning shore, and gakit, meaning bamboo raft, for the way the first settlers travelled down from inland to the coast. Gigaquit now has 22,949 people in thirteen barangays in Surigao del Norte, on the mainland side rather than out on Siargao.
