About Socorro

The whole of Bucas Grande island is Socorro, and nothing else is. The place was called Bunga when it was still a barrio of Dapa, and it became a municipality of Surigao del Norte in February 1961. Today it holds 28,436 people in fourteen barangays, reached by boat like everywhere else out here.
