Mahinog is one of the five Camiguin municipalities, about 14,900 people in 13 barangays. Thirteen barangays on an island this small makes for very small units, averaging around 1,100 people each. Mantigue Island, the little forested islet a short boat ride offshore, belongs to Mahinog.
