About Oroquieta City

Oroquieta was called Layawan before the Spanish name stuck, and the old name is the better of the two. It is the capital of Misamis Occidental and a small one, about 71,000 people, roughly half of what Ozamiz carries down the coast. Holding the seat of government has never made it the busiest town in the province.
