Marcelo Fernan

Marcelo "Celing" Briones Fernan was a Filipino lawyer and political figure. He is the only Filipino to have served as both Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and as Senate President. He is also the third Filipino to have headed both the judicial and legislative branches of government, after Querube Makalintal who served as Chief Justice and Speaker of the Batasang Pambansa in the 1970s, and José Yulo, who served as Chief Justice and Speaker of the House of Representatives before 1946.

Si Marcelo Briones Fernán ay isang abogado at politikong Pilipino. Siya ang tanging Pilipino na nagsilbi bilang Punong Mahistrado ng Kataas-taasang Hukuman at bilang Pangulo ng Senado. Siya ang pangatlong Pilipino na namuno sa parehong lehislatibo at hudikatura ng pamahalaan, sumunod kina Querube Makalintal na nagsilbi bilang Punong Mahistrado at Ispiker ng Batasang Pambansa noong huling bahagi ng dekada 1970, at si Jose Yulo, na nagsilbi bilang Punong Mahistrado at Ispiker ng Kapulungan ng mga Kinatawan bago ang 1946.
