About Visayas
The Visayas is the middle third of the Philippines and a scatter of islands rather than one landmass: Panay, Negros, Cebu, Bohol, Leyte and Samar, ringed around the Visayan Sea. Cebu lechon comes from here, and so does the version of it everyone else gets judged against. It is also where the language argument starts, because Cebuano, Hiligaynon and Waray are all Visayan and none of their speakers concede much to the others.
