Alona and the quieter coves, and the dive sites off Balicasag with turtles and a wall. Alona Beach runs for about 1 kilometre at the south-west tip of Panglao, with white sand, rocky cliffs and a line of shops and resorts. A coral reef lies just offshore, and divers and snorkellers work straight from the beach.
The beach is named after the actress Alona Alegre, who filmed a scene there in 1973 for the movie Esteban. Bohol-Panglao International Airport is close by.
