Mercado Mansion
A two-storey bahay na bato painted Mediterranean blue, one of the heritage houses of Carcar. The ground floor may date from the 1880s. Don Mariano Mercado, the American-era mayor of the town, added the hardwood second floor in 1906 to his own plan. American Senator Key Pittman called here in 1931, and the mayor asked him to press for Philippine independence. Ferdinand Marcos took a siesta in the upstairs master bedroom during a campaign trip in the 1960s.
The Mercado clan owns the house, and it stands along Cebu South Road. The National Historical Commission of the Philippines declared it a Heritage House in 2009 and unveiled the marker in 2010, together with Silva House, Ang Dakong Balay and Balay na Tisa.
