Borongan Cathedral
The cathedral of Borongan, formally the Cathedral Parish of the Nativity of Our Lady, and the seat of the diocese. The round bell tower is the only part of the old church that is left. Father Juan Navarette added it in 1853, a second floor went on in 1939 and a third in 1950. A church has stood on the site since 1710, and the rest of the building comes from the expansion of 1962. A historical marker was installed in 1998.
The city fiesta honours the same patroness, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and her feast day falls on 8 September. The day before, the Padul-ong procession carries a small figure of the Virgin through the town and ends at this church.
