Basiao Island

An island barangay of the city, three islets joined by karst and coastal limestone. It lies about three nautical miles off the south side of Catbalogan and faces Majaba Island to the northwest.

Its beach is Aba-Aba Island Park, named after the Aba-Aba, a shellfish found nowhere but the Basiao and Buad island clusters. The shore and the water hold molluscs, crabs, groupers, seahorses and reptiles, and the birds include the purple-throated sunbird. The water suits diving, snorkelling, sailing, sport fishing and kayaking.
