Church
An old Catholic church on La Paz Street in the middle of the city, built in 1876 in the Spanish period. It is one of the very few churches in the region with a Romanesque design.
It is built of Silay red bricks and coral stones from Guimaras Island, bonded with lime mixed with duck eggs. Filipino men built it under the polo system, which required every male from 16 to 60 years old to give forty days of free labour a year on churches, roads and bridges.
