About Pontevedra

Every May, Pontevedra holds the Handurayo Festival, and this is the Negros Occidental Pontevedra, not the Capiz town of the same name. The actress Rio Diaz served as vice mayor here from 1998 to 2004, which is a better claim to fame than most towns on this coast can manage. Population is 54,941.
