Taklong Island
An island off the south coast of Guimaras, the main one in the Taklong and Tandog Group of Islands Natural Park. President Corazon Aquino declared the island and the water around it a national marine reserve on 8 February 1990, and a law signed in 2025 turned the reserve into a natural park.
The University of the Philippines Visayas runs a marine biological station on the island, built in 1977 and renovated twice since. The Guimaras oil spill of 2006 coated 90 percent of the island's mangrove forest with sludge. Work to repair the damage started in 2007 and the forest has fully recovered.
