About Region V (Bicol Region)
Bicol is the southeastern tail of Luzon plus two island provinces, and it is where Filipino food finally gets spicy. Chilli and coconut milk go into almost everything, with Bicol express as the version the rest of the country knows. Six provinces: Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur and Sorsogon on the peninsula, with Catanduanes and Masbate offshore. Legazpi sits directly under Mayon, and Naga fills up every September for Penafrancia.
