Lignon Hill

no rating yet ♥ 2

A hill above the city with a view of Mayon, the gulf and the airport, and a zipline down. The summit stands about 156 metres high, and it is the highest point in Legazpi after Mayon itself. The hill sits some 3 kilometres west of the downtown port area, next to Legazpi Airport in barangay 41 (Bogtong).

It is a prehistoric cinder cone at the foot of Mayon, about 12 kilometres from the summit of the volcano. The city and provincial governments run it as a nature park. The Mayon Volcano Observatory, the central monitoring station of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, was built here in 1989.
