About Solana

Solana sits on the Awidon Mesa Formation, where at least 68 Paleolithic sites have produced stone tools and the fossils of extinct animals, stegodons and rhinoceros among them. With the Callao sites in Peñablanca, they make up the Philippine tentative nomination for the Paleolithic Archaeological Sites in Cagayan Valley. About 90,000 people live here, second in the province only to Baggao.
