Ancestral houses kept as museums, including the home of Marcela Agoncillo, who sewed the first Philippine flag. Her grandfather built that house, one of the oldest in Taal, and her husband Felipe Agoncillo lived there after their marriage in 1889. He came to be known as the first Filipino diplomat.
Marcela's daughters gave the house, its furniture and the family memorabilia to the government in 1980. It is now a public museum, and the National Historical Commission of the Philippines runs it as a national shrine.
