About Taal

Taal is the town, not the volcano, and in Batangas the difference matters. Its poblacion is a National Historical Landmark full of ancestral houses, among them the 1770s home where Marcela Mariño de Agoncillo grew up, now a museum. The town is also the balisong and barong tagalog capital of the country, which is a strange pair of trades to lead.
