Imus Cathedral
The seat of the bishop of Imus, whose diocese covers the whole province of Cavite. Inside is the crowned image of Our Lady of the Pillar, patroness of the diocese and of the province. Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle crowned the image in 2012.
Work on the stone and brick church began in 1823, on a new town centre at Barangay Balangon, and it was done with forced labour. Its front copies the fifth Manila Cathedral, a building that stood from 1760 to 1852. The parish itself dates from 1795, under the Augustinian Recollects. The cathedral runs the longest Holy Week procession in Cavite, with at least 70 floats. Only four parishes in the country field a longer one.
