About Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR)
The Cordillera is the only region in the Philippines with no coastline, which in a country of 7,000 islands takes some doing. Six provinces sit up in the Luzon highlands: Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga and Mountain Province. Baguio is where lowlanders drive when the heat stops being funny, and the slopes below it grow the strawberries and most of the vegetables the rest of Luzon eats.
