Puerto Princesa Subterranean River
A navigable river running under a limestone mountain to the sea, entered by paddle boat. Permits are capped daily and booked ahead.
The river lies in a national park in the Saint Paul Mountain Range, about 80 kilometres north of the city, which the city government has run since 1992. UNESCO listed it as a World Heritage Site in 1999, and a vote named it one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature in 2012. Most visitors drive to the seaside village of Sabang and take a bangka from there into the park.
