About Bangsamoro Autonomous Region In Muslim Mindanao (BARMM)

Bangsamoro is the only region in the country with a Muslim majority, and the kitchens show it: palapa, the scallion relish that bites back, on the Maranao side of Lanao, and pastil wrapped in banana leaf in Maguindanao. It covers Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte and del Sur, Tawi-Tawi, and the Special Geographic Area of towns that voted themselves in. It was created in 2019 under the Bangsamoro Organic Law, with its own parliament and its own fiscal deal.
