Lanao del Norte is the coastal strip between Iligan Bay and Illana Bay, Cebuano speaking along the shore and Maranao in the hills that climb toward Lake Lanao. The capital is Tubod, a modest town for the job. Panguil Bay cuts the province off from Misamis Occidental, which means a ferry or a long drive around the head of the bay.
