A president of the Philippines lived here: Carlos P. Garcia built the house in 1953 and 1954, on the lot of the older Jorolan house, and kept it as his provincial home. He came from Talibon, on the far side of Bohol, and his family rented in the city until then. For years afterwards the house held the Bohol Provincial Museum, whose collection of preserved plants and animals, models of the old churches and local artifacts has since moved to the National Museum branch at the Provincial Capitol Complex.

The house stands on A. Hontanosas Street, a few blocks from the Provincial Capitol and the cathedral. The National Historical Commission declared it a heritage house in 2009.
