About Ormoc City

Ormoc grows the pomelo everyone buys on the way through, and runs the port that ties western Leyte to Cebu. It is an independent component city, so the provincial government has no authority over it, and it is the second largest city on Leyte after Tacloban. In 1991 a flash flood came down through the middle of town and killed thousands.
