Capul Church
A fortress church on Capul Island, also called Fuerza de Capul. The Jesuits set it up as a mission station in 1596 under the name of Saint Ignatius of Loyola, and the National Museum of the Philippines has declared it a National Cultural Treasure.
Galleons on the run from Acapulco called at the fortified island and gave thanks here for a safe crossing, before they took on the rough water of the San Bernardino Strait on the last leg to Manila.
