Pintaflores Festival

no rating yet ♥ 19

A street dancing festival held every 3 to 5 November, and one of the most popular in the region. The dancers paint flowers on their faces, arms, bodies and legs, in the pintados tradition, to show gratitude to people and to their surroundings.

The name joins two Spanish words, pintados, the painted ones, and flores, flowers. It grew in 1992 out of two older city fiesta events, the Nabingkalan Tattoo Festival and the Dances of Flowers. The street dancing ends in a ritual at the city auditorium, where the dancers form a human flower.
