Boats leave Bais early to look for dolphins in the Tanon Strait, and most of them carry on to the sandbar that surfaces off Manjuyod at low tide. The rest of the city is sugar and has been for a long time. About 88,000 people live on this stretch of the east coast of Negros Oriental, facing Cebu across the same water the dolphins use.
