About Canlaon City
Canlaon lives on the shoulder of the volcano it is named for. Kanlaon is the highest mountain in the central Philippines and an active one, which does not stop the city farming its slopes: the cool ground up here grows vegetables the lowlands cannot. It is the smallest city in Negros Oriental, about 62,800 people, and the trails up the mountain start nearby.
