Mayon Volcano
The most active volcano in the country, a stratovolcano with a symmetric cone. Philippine mythology holds it sacred.
The volcano and the land around it became the first national park in the nation on July 20, 1938, and were reclassified as the Mayon Volcano Natural Park in 2000. Mayon is the centre of the Albay Biosphere Reserve, which UNESCO declared in 2016, and it is nominated as a World Heritage Site. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology watches the volcano from Ligñon Hill, about 12 kilometres from the summit.
