First José Rizal Monument
The first monument built to honour José Rizal, and the oldest one of its kind that survives in the country. It is a three-tiered stone pylon, a square base carrying a triangle in two stages.
Lieutenant Colonel Antonio Sanz designed it with Ildefonso Alegre of the Philippine Revolutionary Army, and people of Camarines Norte paid for it. The Bantayog Festival, held with the foundation anniversary of the province, makes the monument its centrepiece.
